Escape to the casual elegance of the Old Gratitude House, a
Chesapeake Bay bed and breakfast, where Sandy & Hank await
with their two Westies, Mikey & Jamie. A relaxing waterfront
inn, the Old Gratitude House, is a recent addition to Rock Hall,
Maryland. There is a magic at our Eastern Shore bed and breakfast
that is reminiscent of an era when paddle boats and steam ships
plied the bay with vacationers to the many summer homes on our
tree-lined street.
Oyster
men, tongers and dredgers, Chesapeake pirates, crabbers and rock
fishermen all left their mark on our special slice of Chesapeake
heaven. The mesmerizing waters of the Bay will uplift your spirit
and restore your soul.

Biking
Guests can use our complimentary bikes to explore the Rock Hall
area or take advantage of one of Kent County’s many bike tour
routes. Kent County’s relatively flat and safe roads make it a
biker’s paradise. Stop at one of the many local restaurants for
a refreshing pick me up or Durding’s old fashioned drug store
for a hand-dipped ice cream treat. We also have a 21 speed tandem
bike available for more adventures.
Kayaking
Old Gratitude
House guests enjoy complimentary use of our Heritage Kayaks to
explore nearby Tavern Creek and Swan Haven. The Haven with its
natural unspoiled marshes and waters is host to herons, swans,
ducks and many other species of wildlife. Shallow depths and easy
to maneuver kayaks make for a pleasurable worry free experience.
Leisurely explore the local water ways at your own pace. There are
no time limits here.
Boating
Rock Hall boasts 30 public launch ramps,
10 marinas and miles of picturesque rivers, creeks and inlets for
your boating pleasure. Fishing charters on the Chesapeake Bay and
surrounding rivers can be arranged with advanced notice. We highly
recommend a sailboat day or Sunset Cruise to top off your visit.
Bird Watching & Wildlife
Visit the Eastern Neck National Wildlife
Refuge. This unspoiled island is located 15 minutes from Gratitude
and features much of the habitat diversity character of the
Chesapeake region. The wetland shoal waters are teeming with duck,
geese, swans and the home of nine American Bald Eagles.
